A prominent scholar, author, translator, and novelist of twentieth century. Abdul Halim Sharar was born on September 4, 1860 in Lucknow, United Provinces of British India. His father Hakim Tafazzul Husain was an Islamic scholar. Sharar learnt Arabic and Persian and got married to his first cousin at the age of 20. Though he pursued Greek medicine, he discontinued it in the middle.
